Dropbox is redundant, but NOT a backup solution.

Dropbox, Google Drive, One Drive, Sync, and other file sharing tools are great for saving files in the Cloud and Sharing files, however, they do not provide all three layers of backup.

Your data should be stored in THREE locations at anyone time:

  1. The original data – typically the system storage on your computer either SSD or Hard Drive.
  2. Local Backup – save a copy of your files to an external USB hard drive (pictured here), file server, or another computer.
  3. Cloud Backup – Okay, here’s where you can count Dropbox, Google Drive, One Drive, Sync (and others) as storage. HOWEVER, a better solution would be a CrashPlan Pro, Mozy Pro, and others.

If you don’t know if you have a backup, you don’t have a backup.
